VIT Chennai celebrates University Day

Chennai, April 16 (MExN): The Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), Chennai, celebrated its University Day on Tuesday with Indian Bank Managing Director & CEO Binod Kumar as chief guest, who urged students to embrace continuous learning and innovation focused on improving end-user experience.

Major Vaibhav Chaurasia, an alumnus of VIT Chennai, attended as the Guest of Honour and encouraged students to remain resilient and maintain self-belief despite setbacks.

Presiding over the event, VIT Founder and Chancellor Dr G Viswanathan emphasised the transformative power of education, stating that it uplifts not just individuals but also society and the nation. He called for universal access to quality education to achieve the vision of a developed India.

In his address, Kumar said, “Always keep this in mind: in banking we think how we can make the life of customers easy. This will help you in striving perfection within yourself.” He added that while knowledge helps one reach a certain stage, “beyond that, it is your character which will shape you.”

Major Chaurasia, addressing the gathering, said, “Never give up, never have a doubt in yourself. Things will not work out and things will go wrong, but you have to keep working hard and always do things right.”

The event concluded with distribution of medals and certificates to meritorious students for academic and overall excellence. Dr GV Selvam, Vice-President of VIT; Prof T Thyagarajan, Pro-Vice Chancellor; Prof K Sathiyanarayanan, Director; and Prof P K Manoharan, Additional Registrar, were present.
