
DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 3 (MExN): VIT Chennai hosted a special conference on 'Fostering International Cooperation.' The inauguration was led by Dr. G. Viswanathan, Chancellor and Founder of VIT, with Dr SekarViswanathan, Vice President, presiding over the event.
The gathering included distinguished Honorary Consul Generals namely, Seshasai, Honorary Ambassador of the Republic of Seychelles; Ashok R. Thakkar, the Honorary Ambassador of Senegal; Krishna N. Pimple, the Honorary Ambassador of Tanzania; Sukumar Natarajan, the Honorary Ambassador of Zambia; and Prof. J. Ranganathan, the Honorary Ambassador of Myanmar, as special guests.
Additionally, Dr VS Kanchana Bhaaskaran, Pro Vice Chancellor of VIT-Chennai & Vice Chancellor in-charge of VIT-University, Dr SP Thiagarajan, Adviser to the Chancellor, Dr PK Manoharan, the Additional Registrar, and several other dignitaries graced the occasion.
Dr G Viswanathan, Chancellor and Founder of VIT, emphasized the institution's ongoing efforts to draw students globally, especially from developing nations. He pointed out at the significant rise in students from Nepal at VIT and highlighted recent measures taken to welcome students from a wider range of countries. He stressed the connection between education and a nation's economic development, emphasizing that the level of education directly affects economic progress.
Dr Viswanathan highlighted that educational status impacts of a country profoundly influences its economic prosperity. VIT University is dedicated to enhancing societal progress through quality education. Dr G Viswanathan emphasized the need to increase education budget of the country from 2-3% to 5-6% of the GDP. He stressed raising the higher education enrolment ratio from 27.1% to over 50% for sustained national growth.
The dignitaries from the consulates pledged full support to VIT's mission of attracting and accommodating foreign students, affirming their commitment to assist in enrolment and engagement efforts. The meeting culminated with this exchange of MOU between VIT and SATORIXR to establish the Center of Excellence for Technology Innovation and Education, solidified by Chancellor Dr G Viswanathan and SATORIXR Managing Director, Mahesh Ramamurthy.
