VIT Sports cum University conducted

Dimapur, March 16 (MExN): VIT University, Chennai celebrated its  University day and Sports day on March  15 as a Day with Lt. Governor of Puducherry, Dr.Kiran Bedi, IPS (Retd.) as the Chief guest.   The event was organised to “celebrate accomplishments; a moment to come together and set milestones,” a VIT press release said.   The event was presided over by. In his presidential address, Dr.G.Viswanathan, Founder and Chancellor, VIT University reiterated that “Education will be a remedy to remove all the maladies in our country. We should make progress in education to make economic progress”.   The Chief Guest advised the students to have tangible and intangible measures, and build India by taking “part as community leaders; and to be courageous, honest with conviction and make public representations at grass root level; raise values and be a giver to society”.   Dr.P.Gunasekaran, Pro-Vice Chancellor, presented the annual report highlighting the events and highly commendable achievements of Faculty and students and briefed about the Innovations in teaching – learning process.   Around 1200 awards, certificates, trophies and cash prizes to the tune of Rs.50 lakhs were given for exemplary service, significant contribution to teaching and research, stupendous achievements in academics as well as extracurricular activities for students, faculty and staff, the release said.
