Ranked 9th best in India, 346th in world
Vellore, April 19 (MExN): The Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) today informed that its Engineering and Technology areas has made significant progress as compared to last year and it was ranked the 9th best institution in India as per the recently published QS World University Ranking by Subject 2022.
VIT moved 55 positions up in 2022 as compared to last year in Engineering and Technology, making the institute the 9th best institution in India and the 346th in the world in Engineering and Technology, stated a press release from the institute.
Seven subjects of VIT are on the list published by QS this year and both Computer Science & Information Systems and Electrical & Electronics Engineering (EEE) subjects were ranked 8th in the country, it said.
Computer Science & Information Systems and Mechanical Engineering have moved up 50 positions as compared to last year, added.
QS publishes rank of World Universities every year in 5 broad subject areas - Arts & Humanities, Engineering and Technology, Life Sciences & Medicine, Natural Sciences and Social Sciences & Management, the release said, adding that it is compiled every year to help prospective students identify leading universities in a particular subject.
Research citations, H index along with results of major global surveys of employers and academicians are used to rank universities and in 2022, the IRN (International Research Network) index was included in the ranking of broad subject areas.
VIT has been recognised as an Institution of Eminence by the Government of India and it was also been ranked as number 9th institution in India as per the Shanghai Ranking 2021 while VIT is the 12th best research institution of India as per NIRF Ranking, the release added.
