
Tuensang, October 11 (MExN): The Krishi Vigyan Kendra conducted a workshop on ‘Low cost walk in plastic tunnels & low tunnels for cultivation of off season vegetables & flowers’ on October 8 at Sao Chang College (SCC), Tuensang.
The workshop was conducted for vocational course students in collaboration with Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA), GOI, MHRD. The workshop was aimed at training and equipping the vocational students with “new and effective technology” which can “improve the productivity, profitability, sustainability of the major farming systems” by applying low cost greenhouse technology.
Dr Shisarenla Aier spoke on the “scope and importance of the low cost greenhouse technology in Tuensang District, where the climatic conditions are extremely adverse during winter season and crop production becomes a challenge in some parts of the district”. The workshop also witnessed the “hands on demonstration on the construction of low cost walk in plastic tunnels & low tunnels for cultivation of off season vegetables & flowers” which was demonstrated by Yanger Kichu, Farm Manager, KVK, Tuensang. Altogether 23 students and 4 RUSA attended the programme. The programme was coordinated by Tekameren Walling, SCC RUSA Coordinator, a press release informed.
