‘Volunteering for Nature-Human-Wildlife Coexistence’

Dimapur, August 8 (MExN): Workshop on ‘Volunteering for Nature-Human-Wildlife Coexistence’ was held organized by Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samiti, New Delhi, in association with Confederation of Community Based Organization of India & Prodigals’ Home, and in Collaboration with Eco-Club, SM College, Dimapur at SM College on August 7 and 8.  

A press release received here stated that Obed Swu, ACF Nagaland Zoological Park, Rangapahar and Hongba Phom, proprietor of Fingerprint presented on 'Understanding - Nature - Human - Wildlife co-existence' on the second day.  

Some of the action plans and suggestions emerging from the workshop were, to have consultations with various departments and stakeholders to explore options in conserving our environment, the Forest and wildlife department to provide and depute resource persons for such programs, explore possibilities of exposure trips for eco clubs, eco clubs to have monthly or annual work plans, have a mentoring body for eco clubs, and to organize similar workshop/programs at various levels.  

On the first day, Liangsi Niumai, Director of C-CERP, Dimapur, was the resource person where she presented on “Understanding environmental issues: how do we act?” and “Nature-Human-Wildlife coexistence: scriptural defense of endangered spices”.  

Satya Prakash Tripathi, IFS, Chief Wildlife Warden, Dimapur, Nagaland presented the key note address and Mr. Gulshan Gupta from Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samiti, New Delhi presented about communicating with nature. Dr. Arenla Aier, Principal of SM College gave the welcome address and the facilitators were K. Ela, Director of Prodigals’ Home, and Mhonthung, Asst. Professor, and Eco-Club in Charge, SM College.
