Kohima, September 17 (MExN): A District Level Core Committee meeting on the Village Prosperity Resilience Plan (VPRP) for 2027–28 was held at the DC Conference Hall, Kohima, on September 17,focusing on participatory and people-centred development planning.
A DIPR report stated that Deputy Commissioner Kohima, B Henok Buchem, NCS, stressed that VPRP should go beyond being a planning document and ensure that genuine community needs and priorities are translated into effective implementation and tangible outcomes.
He emphasised convergence and coordination among line departments and stakeholders, urging departments to examine emerging priorities and reflect relevant interventions in their action plans.
State Project Coordinator D Elow explained the various levels of VPRP preparation, from Self-Help Group (SHG) and Village Organisation (VO) levels to Gram Panchayat/Village Council level, and highlighted the role of line departments in providing scheme information, technical assistance and support to Community Based Organisations.
Presentations on non-farm livelihood activities in Kohima district were made by District Functional Specialists Khriezhatuo Khezhie and Vilalhounuo Solo. The meeting also discussed livelihood initiatives, challenges and convergence opportunities involving departments including Health and Family Welfare, Agriculture, Social Welfare, Rural Development and Animal Husbandry.
Buchem further called for effective mobilisation through special Gram Sabhas to educate villagers, identify genuine priorities and ensure that appropriate plans are incorporated into the VPRP and subsequently integrated with the Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP).
