IMPHAL: Women Action for Development (WAD) has deeply condemned the brutal killing of a 7 year old girl in Thoubal district who went missing on May 5 and was found murdered on May 6.
WAD said with this, the spontaneity of crimes against women and children in the state has become a question to wonder. Despite various efforts made by several civil society organizations, the rate has been escalating at an unstoppable pace. Many new trends of committing crimes have been witnessed in recent days, the case of cold-blooded murders, cyber crimes, high rates of domestic violence as an impact of drug abuse etc.
Stating that the system is deeply corroded from every corner and that people have lost faith in the judiciary system as well as the investigation system, WAD asked, “Are we going to trust and rely on government initiation and effective measure to prevent the rising crime against women and children?”
