An awareness campaign addressing violence against women was organised by the Indigenous Women’s Forum of North East India (IWFNEI) at the Diphu Club, Diphu, Karbi Anglong, on December 7. The event was a significant part of the 16-Day Activism Initiative under the United Nations, observed annually from November 25 to December 10. The campaign saw active participation from the Karbi women community, along with Indigenous women from neighbouring states. District Commissioner of Karbi Anglong, Nirola Phangchopi, and Superintendent of Police, Sanjib Kumar Saikia, delivered speeches emphasising the urgent need to combat violence against women. With Prodigals’ Home as the campaign partner and sponsored by FIMI, the event served as a platform to unite voices, share experiences, and foster solidarity among Indigenous women in their fight against gender-based violence.
