Candidates urge merit-based selection

The ‘Walking Test’ for the 2025 Forest Guard Recruitment commenced in Zunheboto district on July 9, as part of a state-wide selection process that has attracted a total of 23,674 applicants.

In Zunheboto alone, 457 candidates had applied, with 287 admit cards issued. Of these, 255 candidates turned up for the test, including 233 male and 22 female participants.

The walking test, conducted under the supervision of the recruitment committee, aims to assess the physical fitness of candidates applying for various roles within the forest divisions.

District authorities ensured comprehensive logistical arrangements and safety measures for the smooth and transparent conduct of the examination. 

Assistant Conservator of Forests (ACF) Zunheboto, Tsuamki L Yimchunger, stressed that a district-level screening committee has been constituted to oversee the process. “The committee comprises officials from the education, administration, and police departments,” he said. “We have also engaged medical teams and traffic police to ensure the safe and organized conduct of the physical test.”

The written examination for candidates who have qualified in the physical endurance test is scheduled to be held on July 12, at the Government Higher Secondary School, Zunheboto.

In the female category, Bovitoli G. Assumi came first with a time of 1 hour 32 minutes covering 15 Km, while in the male category, Khevihe Sumi topped the list with a time of 1 hour 49 minutes covering 24 Km.

Several applicants shared their experiences and the extensive hours of practice they put in for the test. They also appealed to the Government of Nagaland and the concerned departments to maintain transparency and fairness throughout the recruitment process, emphasizing that opportunities should be granted based solely on merit.

All the candidates in Zunheboto District got through in the physical test.
