Nagaland Lok Sabha MP Wangyuh Konyak has requested Union Minister for Commerce, Kamal Nath, to take into consideration his suggestion of setting up trade related infrastructure at Lungwa and Pangsha on a priority basis. Wangyuh wants an International Border Trade Centre replete with modern facilities and a mini township with social and general infrastructure besides residential accommodation.
The commerce ministry had stated that township would be taken up under Integrated Development of Small and Medium Towns, Ministry of Urban Affairs and Employment for each project costing at Rs 1189.03 and Rs 1109.31 lakhs respectively, the MP informed and said infrastructure preparation was to be treated as per the Detailed Project Report submitted to the ministry.
The letter to the Union Minister further states that the Centre had in the meantime brought out a new scheme known as Assistance to States for Developing Export Infrastructure and Allied Activities (ASIDE) to which the existing Critical Infrastructure Balance (CIB) was merged.
The change of this scheme has not only affected the Project proposal for creation of trade related infrastructure at Lungwa and Pangsha but has also retarded ongoing projects of the Export Promotion International Park at Ganeshnagar at Dimapur, Wangyuh said.
The ministry has also decided to complete the ongoing project first and then work on the new projects for Lungwa and Pangsha which is still pending with the Government of India for more than six years, he said.
