Dimapur May 26 (MExN): The two-day 'Spirit of Community Living' Seminar, May 26 and the 27th organized by the Lotha Hoho Dimapur commenced today at the Hoho Ki, Dimapur, with Health & Family Welfare Minister, Dr TM Lotha, as Chief Guest.
Dr TM Lotha while urging the Lotha community to uphold their cultural values and to strive to march ahead in today’s changing world also urged that the “ugly habits” of narrow-mindedness and selfish attitudes be done away with. According to the Minister, these narrow, self-centered mindsets has only contributed nothing and has hindered the progress of the people. According to Dr TM Lotha knowing one’s culture by maintaining the various aspects of culture, language and “not speaking Nagamese” are testimonies of progress by virtue of adherance to the tenets the forefathers set for posterity.
Taking cognizance of the recent controversy over the PM’s Package in Wokha which involved students, contractors and political interests the Minister reminded that the package was for the people in general to develop and to nurture mindsets that would bring progress on all fronts. In this regard Dr TM Lotha also assured that works for improvement/construction of the Wokha-Merapani road would be started at the earliest. He cautioned the people against indulging in narrow and selfish interests so as not to contribute towards delay and derailing the development initiatives of the government, which are meant to develop the people socio-economically.
The Chief Guest donated Rs 50,000 towards the LHD Seminar. The minister also informed the house about the posting of Mhathung Kithan, IAS to Nagaland, and said it was made possible due the keen initiatives of Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio. The House expressed happiness saying that the posting of a senior officer of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) of the Haryana cadre to Nagaland is one of great joy to the Lotha community. Before being transferred to Nagaland, Mhathung Kithan IAS has had vast experiences, holding different capacities in various departments in the state of Haryana in the past two decades. The Lotha Hoho Dimapur expressed sincere gratitude to Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and the governments of both the Centre and the state for the action.
Er W Kithan, Additional Chief Engineer, NST (Retd.) and LM Merry, were the resource persons of the morning and afternoon sessions while MLA Yankithung Yanthan and K.N. Ngullie, Dimapur Deputy Commissioner also exhorted the sessions respectively while Ntsemo Ngully, chaired the meeting. Participants numbering about 600 which comprised of people from all walks of life, including students and prominent citizens attended the session. The Lotha Hoho Dimapur also congratulated Myingthungo Tungoe on his qualifying in the UPCS Exams 2005 and bringing laurels to the Lotha community. The Lotha Hoho wished him a very successful career.
Dr ML Ngullie would be the key-note speaker for the Day-two morning session while Rev Zanao Mozhui will be addressing the participants on the valedictory function.
