Mokokchung, May 18 (MExN): In a rejoinder to the District Mahila Congress Committee (DMCC) Mokokchung that appeared in the local dailies today, the Mokokchung Division of the NPF Women Wing gave a hard hitting rejoinder and questioned the DMCC about the various allegations leveled against the NPF leaders and their roles in the just concluded 26th Aonglenden A/C by-election.
A press statement issued by the NPF (Women Wing) Mokokchung Division president, Asangla Longchar and general secretary (Admn) Arenla Pongen responded to almost every point and allegations raised by the DMCC, Mokokchung.
The release, while terming the allegation of the DMCC as serious, wondered how the District Mahila Congress Committee could point fingers at the Nagaland Home Minister and PHED Minister and “level baseless allegations” about their role in the by-election, “when a very capable and youthful leader had already been elected from the constituency”.
Saying that the NPF leaders were campaigning for their candidates like any other responsible political leaders, the release asked the DMCC to remember the election campaigns by the different Congress leaders for the Congress candidate.
Expressing shock at the DMCC pointing fingers at the Home Minster and PHED Minister the NPF Women wing of Mokokchung said the DMCC Mokokchung press release conceivably shows that the Congress party is still unable to accept the decisive defeat of the Congress party in the by-election.
“The NPF Women Wing of Mokokchung wonders whether the press statement of the DMCC is just another case of sore grapes and a foot-in-the-mouth syndrome to vent their frustration,” the release stated.
Saying that all political parties work for achieving success in its endeavour, the release “put on record” that the allegation of the DMCC about the ‘pulling of hair’, ‘slapping’ and ‘beating up’ of women at the polling station never happened during by-election.
It, however, alleged “sinister designs of the Congress party was revealed on the May 7 by-polls wherein the Congress workers threw bombs and even fired bullets from guns to disturb the peaceful poll process”.
“The NPF Women Wing, Mokokchung questions the DMCC whether it condones the act of Congress Workers trying to capture the booths after creating unwanted situations in the polling stations”. In this regard the NPF Women Wing feted the security forces for taking stock of the situation and preventing any unwanted incidents at the by-polls.
“The bare exposure of frustration at one’s failure at a political process and leveling of unwanted and baseless allegations at the winning party simply reveals that the Congress party cannot accept defeat gracefully and respect the mandate of the people,” the release stated.
Saying that there is a time for seasoned leaders to retire gracefully, since the ideologies of the past is different to the present world, the NPF Women Wing Mokokchung expressed regret that the DMCC have taken the phrases ‘overripe fruit” and ‘tiger without teeth’ with “such emotions”.
“…the metaphor used in comparison with Dr SC Jamir should be taken positively by the DMCC or the Congress party, because it is the stand of the NPF party that the young should give way to the old, and moreover the mandate of the 26th Aonglenden A/C voters favored a young leader instead of an old politician,” the release stated.
Also asserting that the NPF party don’t need any political education from the DMCC about the motto of the NPF party ‘Fide non Armis’, the release maintained that “muscle or money power, it must be noted here that the Congress party introduced the use of muscle and money power in the state election during the 1980’s when the Congress party was in power in Nagaland”.
“Therefore, the NPF Women Wing Mokokchung Division asserts that the motto ‘By faith not arms’ is being followed with all sincerity and we appeal all right thinking citizens of Nagaland to follow in the footsteps of NPF, that is non-violence,” the release stated.
Maintaining that this by-election has greatly encouraged the NPF party, the NPF Women Wing Mokokchung Division appealed to every politically conscious and sensible citizen to extend the unwavering support to the NPF party in the days to come, especially the 2013 election and support NPF party in its dream of bringing peace, development and prosperity in the Naga society. it further informed that if any DMCC member would like to join in the NPF party then the door is wide open and you would be most welcome.
