
Kohima, February 3 (MExN): The 55th Wrestling Meet of the Western Angami Sports Association (WASA) is scheduled from February 5 to 6 at Kohima local ground.
A total of 72 wrestlers representing the four groups will be competing in Naga wrestling on February 5 followed by the freestyle wrestling on February 6, informed a press note received here.
The inaugural function would be graced by Peteroko Zetsuvi, Deputy Director of Sports, Nagaland University, Kohima campus as the chief guest, while Neivikuolie Khatsü, President, Nagaland Wrestling Association will be the guest of honour on the second day.
The Naga wrestling champion will fetch a catch award of Rs. 80,000, while the second, third and fourth position winners will receive Rs, 60,000, Rs. 40,000 and Rs. 30,000 respectively.
In freestyle wrestling, the top two winners in senior category will receive Rs. 4000 and Rs. 2000 respectively. For junior section, the top two winners will be awarded Rs. 2000 and Rs. 1000 respectively.
Meanwhile, WASA informed that a meeting with all the tournament officials including referees, judges, jury board, unit presidents, team coaches and managers will be held at Khuochiezie on February 4 at 3 PM.
The measurement for the freestyle wrestlers would be done right after the completion of Naga style wrestling on February 5, it added. All the units are also informed to submit two flags along with the entry fee of Rs. 8,000.
