Kohima, January 10 (MExN): The 50th year anniversary of Western Angami Sports Association (WASA) will start from January 11 at WAPO ground, Sechü Zubza under the theme “Enhance your vision from the past.” The inaugural function will take place on January 11 from 10:00 AM onwards with Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) speaker Kiyanilie Peseyie as chief host.
The 5day long events will witness various contingents from the Western Angami Region competing in different disciplines of both indoors and outdoors games. Around 600-700 athletes including officials are expected for the events.
Athletics, football, volleyball for men and women, and wrestling, cultural folk song will be also part of the events. Medals and certificates will be awarded for individuals and group winners while a cash award will be giving for wrestling champion and group champions. The tournament will continue till January 15 with Er. Vikho-o Yhoshü, MLA, advisor, IT & C as chief guest.
