WASO 50th year anniversary celebration

Kohima | January 8  (MExN): Western Angami Sports Association (WASO) is all set to celebrate its 50th anniversary under the theme “Enhance Your Vision from the Past”, from January 11 to 15 at WAPO ground, Sechü, Zubza.
Briefing media persons today, WAPO officials informed that there will be four competing groups. Mezoma will fall in group A, Khonoma in Group B, Jotsoma in Group C and Sechü, Zubza in Group D. Athletics, wrestling for men, football and volleyball for both men and women will be the competing disciplines in the meet. Trophies, medals and certificate will be awarded to the winners in the individual and group categories, while cash prizes will be awarded to the wrestling champion and the overall champion. WASO officials said that the Western Angami region has a history of producing outstanding sportspersons. Hence, the theme: ‘Enhance Your Vision from the Past’.   
The inaugural function on 11 January will have the Speaker of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly, Kiyanilie Peseyie as the chief host, who is also the advisor WASO. MLA & Advisor, Information Technology & Communication, Er. Vikho-o Yhoshü will grace the closing function on January 15.  The Deputy Commissioner of Wokha, Rovilato Mor; Director, Health services, Dr. Lhouvi Nakhro; and Additional District & Session Judge, FTC Kohima, Nino Iralu will be the hosts of honour on January 12, 13 and 14 respectively. Nise Meruno will present theme song.  
The organisers further lauded the Assam Rifles’ for their invaluable assistance during the preparations leading up to the five-day event.
