Waste segregation and plastic waste management training in Aboi, Longleng

Dimapur, August 5 (MExN): An information, education and communication (IEC) programme-cum-training on waste segregation and plastic waste management, was conducted by Living for Environment (LIFE) NGO under SBN 2.0, on August 3 in Aboi.


EAC Longching, Dr Cthitu Nienu welcomed the team members and participants and appreciated them for conducting the much-needed programme for the public of Aboi sub-division, a DIPR report stated on Friday.


Resource Person, Nicky Jamir and her team from LIFE gave a PowerPoint presentation on waste segregation and plastic waste management and the role of community participation in it. This was followed by an interaction session. 


The programme was attended by various organizations, civil societies, and stakeholders from Aboi, the DIPR report stated.


On August 5, Longleng district also conducted a similar programme for the urban local body (ULB) staff and stakeholders under the State Mission Directorate, a DIPR report stated. 


The meeting was chaired by Trongdiba Tongpi Sangtam, SDO (C) Longleng. The resource persons were Niksangla Jamir and Athungbeni from LIFE. 


At the meeting, Jamir gave a presentation on Improper disposal; impact on air by waste; diseases caused by waste; ban on plastic carrier bags; global top waste stream, and top waste stream in India and Nagaland, and they also had an interactive session with the stakeholders, the DIPR reported.


The programme was attended by public leaders, GBs, ward leaders, PSC, and church leaders.
