Kohima, February 17 (MExN): The Western Angami Students’ Union (WASU) has reiterated its set Code of Conduct for students under the jurisdiction of Western Angami region. Stating that the code also covers other factors which involve teachers and public, the union has sought cooperation and support from everyone for the welfare of the students’ fraternity.
In a press release, President Kevisetuo Rhitso and General Secretary Viwhekhonuo Vielie further requested the students, teachers and public of Western Angami region to comply and adhere with the set code.
Further, WASU urged all its units to monitor and notify the union’s office of any cases of non-compliance to Code of Conduct. Meanwhile, the union conveyed its best wishes to all the students in the new academic session.
WASU Code of Conduct for students
• Any student in uniform found indulging in any immoral activities shall be penalized both inside and outside the school. • Any student in uniform found taking any intoxicants or any form of abusive substances shall not be tolerated. Such defaulting students shall be seriously dealt with.
• Students are advised to dress appropriately and decently.
• Any student in uniform found roaming and loitering about during school hours shall be thoroughly checked and monitored.
• Students forming themselves into gangs and involving in gang fights shall be seriously dealt with. Such practices must be discouraged by parents, teachers and the public by reporting any such gang activities.
• If any incident occurs of threatening and disrespecting the teachers, the Union shall not tolerate and stern action shall be initiated against such insubordinate students.
• Any cases of abuse amounting to harassment of students shall not be tolerated by the Union.
• It is learnt that some private institutions and hostels are managed by individuals for profit and business leading to astronomical rates of admissions/fees with little or no facilities and imposition of fines against failed subjects and absentees are prevalent. Therefore, it is strongly cautioned that necessary action will be initiated against such practices.
• It is learnt that some Government school teachers are not regular in school paying little or no concern for the students. Therefore, it is cautioned that the Union will thoroughly check and monitor such practices and necessary action will be initiated.
• Sale of tobacco or any other intoxicant products is strictly prohibited in and around educational institutions. Violators are liable to any action by the union for the welfare of the students.
