With the introduction of computerized water billing system in Kohima, PHED Nagaland Chief Engineer Kevisekho Kruse today made an appeal to the consumers to continue to extend their cooperation by way of making timely payment of water tax and by not tampering the water supply assets for better public service.

“I know, we do have constraints for adequate water supply now in Kohima but let me tell you that we are making preparations to significantly improve the water supply level even as the ongoing water supply from Zarii by pumping is anticipated to be commissioned this financial year and we have other measures of improvement being taken up so that soon we make available to dwellers of Kohima town with atleast 50 litres per capita per day even during lean period, which will be considered quite good for a place like Kohima,” he said while launching the first computerized water billing system for Kohima town water supply here at EE PHED Kohima Urban office. He also encouraged the consumers to feel free to share with the SDO or the EE in case they have some genuine complaints about the performance of certain staff/officers so that the authority will be able to redress the grievances or do remedy.

He urged the consumers to approach the PHED authority, instead of directly publishing a shortcoming through newspapers and social media.

Er. Kruse also encouraged the PHED officers/staff that now with the launching of this new system, it would require that the officers/staff who are to be directly involved with meter reading data collections, those junior engineers who are to supervise and counter check the correctness of work done and the staff who will regularly do data entries to be more vigilant, active and efficient in their work.

“Let me remind you that all of this exercise is not just for a good show but to improve efficiencies in the water billing and revenue management system so that we serve the people more effectively in the work of providing safe adequate drinking water to the people,” Er. Kruse said.

Meanwhile, he acknowledged the EE PHED Urban Division Kohima Er. Vikeduolie, the SDO Er. Nirie Nisa and all the officials and staff and the firm namely, Elysium Enterprise, New Delhi for their hard work and committed service in making the computerized water billing system a reality.

Further, Er. Kruse thanked EE Kohima Urban Division, all his officers and staff for taking the lead in improving revenue collection for the department.

Earlier, the function was chaired by Er. Y. Tep, superintending engineer PHED, Kohima Circle. Rev. Keviyiekielie Linyii, pastor Ebenezer Baptist Church, Sepfiizou Kohima pronounced prayer while vote of thanks was proposed by Er. Vikeduolie Mepfhuo, executive engineer, PHED Kohima urban.
