Water Testing Lab inaugurated

Minister for PHED, Dr. Ngangshi K. Ao today inaugurated the Sub Divisional Laboratory. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Ngangshi was hopeful that with the establishment of the Water Testing Lab, the department would be able to provide potable water cleaning the bacteria. He said water is very essential for human beings but at the same time it carries various water borne diseases harmful for human.

Also, inaugurating the two-training for officers’ in-charge of laboratories from all over the state starting today, he appealed the trainees to be sincere in learning the overall utility of the laboratory and its equipments in order to provide better service to the general public. Executive Director CCDU Er. Kevisekho Kruse highlighted the activities of water quality monitoring and surveillance programme in the state.

The Department has established five labs in the state- Kohima, Mokokchung, Wokha, Peren and the existing Lab in Dimapur. Similar labs will be established in all the sub-divisions, he said adding six more labs would be taken up within this year. He stated that the lab was established with the help of Transchem Agritech Ltd, Vadodara (Gujarat). PHED Secretary Zhaleo Rio, IAS also spoke on the occasion. Chief Engineer PHED, Er. K. Khetovi Sumi chaired the function.
