DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 16 (MExN): The Aggrieved Water and Sanitation (WATSAN) Committees of Nagaland have condemned a recent press release by the NTPRADAO, which accused the Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department of mismanagement in the implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) Scheme in the state.
In a statement issued following an emergency meeting held on December 16, at Dimapur, the WATSAN Committees from various villages under the PHED Dimapur Urban Division addressed the allegations. The committees emphasized that all civil works under the JJM Scheme have been successfully supervised and executed by their respective Village WATSAN Committees. They further clarified that pending bills for completed works are currently awaiting release, with no fault attributed to the committees themselves. The WATSAN committees also warned that if the concerned Ministry withholds the pending funds, the NTPRADAO will be held responsible for the non-payment of bills. The committees stated that they will not allow any organization to victimize them or tarnish the reputation of the PHE department. The statement was appended by 22 signatories.
