Watsü Mungdang seeks ‘Sustainable Change’

The 21st conference of apex Ao women organization underway in Mkg

The 21 Watsü Mungdang, the triennial conference of the apex Ao women organization, started here today at Town Hall, Mokokchung under the theme “Aowli Temelenshi (Sustainable Change)”. The main speaker on the first day of the conference was Chubala Wai, member, NPSC.  

Speaking on the topic “Sustainable change in mindset”, Chubala Wai said that the mindset of an individual is shaped by society where s/he lives in and mentioned few reasons why the mindsets of the Ao people are not helping them progress forward.  

Dependency on others, non-recognition of merit, superstition, complex procedure, corruption and wrong educational mindsets were some of the reasons pointed during her speech.  

Chubala Wai further added that there are two groups of people in our society, one with a protective mindset and the other with a defensive mindset and it is a matter of serious introspection to know what type of mindset our society possess.  

She concluded by saying that a society can have a sustainable change only when the society work practically towards the set goals.  

Lemlila Sangtam, SDO (Civil) Mokokchung, Imkongwati, President, Ao Student’s Conference and Chubayangla Longkumer, Rtd. Principal FAC also spoke on the occasion. The two day conference will conclude on April 28. More than thousands of Ao women representing all units from the six Ao ranges are attending the ongoing conference.
