Wazeho cement plant awaits govt clearance for leasing out

The Mini Cement Plant in Wazeho, which was upgraded to a capacity of 150 TPD from 50 TPD in 2008, is awaiting government’s clearance for leasing out.  

This was stated in the annual report (2014-2015) of the Nagaland State Mineral Development Corporation Limited (NSMDC) tabled on the floor of the house today by Parliamentary Secretary for Mechanical Engineering and NSMDC Vikho-o Yhoshu.  

The report said the value accounted from cement sale during the current year was nil.  

Two projects Decorative and Dimensional Stone Chumukedima and Decorative and Dimensional Stone Plant Wazeho, established under the sponsorship of NEC and operation started since August 2001, were continuously operated till date without getting working capital, it highlighted.  

The total sale of various stone products during the current year was Rs. 68.72 lakh, the report added.  

It was further informed that the two Common Facilities Centres at Khonoma (Kohima district) and Longsa (Wokha district) were handed over to respective village councils for operation and management as envisaged.  

Meanwhile, the report said under Self Employment Generation Scheme (SEGS), the Corporation promoted eight units of stone crushers at the maximum cost of Rs. 24 lakh. 75% of the project cost has been provided to the entrepreneurs on term loan basis to be paid back within five years time. The Corporation procured the machinery for the entrepreneurs, helped them in installation of the machines, and also provided all technical support, it added.  

NSMDC also took up construction of three mineral link roads namely – Laluri-Nimi (20km), Zipu-Moke (9km) and Wazeho- Satuza (8km).  

“The completion of the mineral roads construction is delayed due to non sanction of the revised cost of the project,” the report stated.  

Further, construction of two bridges across Tizu river of 100m span and Chizuti river of 24m span on Laluri- Nimi Mineral Link Road were taken up. Construction of both the bridges has been completed.  

On Mineral Industry Growth Centre, Kiruphema, the report stated that out of the total amount of Rs. 100.00 lakh allocated from MIGC project during the current year (2014-15), Rs. 50.00 lakh was received and Rs. 50.00 lakh was kept under civil deposit. The project is nearing completion in all aspects, it informed.
