WCCZLI make its stand clear on Khehoi village

Dimapur, October 31 (MExN): The Working Coordination Committee on Zeliangrong Land Issues (WCCZLI) while appreciating the Cabinet’s decision taken on October 30 in keeping the recognition of Khehoi village in ‘abeyance’ for further examination, also made its stand clear that their demand is for revocation of the Recognition Order of Khehoi village. The said village is illegally established and do not qualify to be recognized, stated a press release from Kiezin Zeliang, Convenor and Nikodim, Secretary, WCCZLI.

It has acknowledged the Government agencies and Peren District Administration for honoring their grievances by taking necessary measures by the Cabinet in setting up a Committee for further examination of the matter. For which, the proposed Peren district band scheduled for November 1 shall be temporarily suspended until further notice. However, the WCCZLI cannot be appeased by merely keeping the matter in abeyance if not totally revoked, the release stated.

The Committee also questioned how a contentious issue could be put up in the Cabinet for discussion thereby embarrassing the state’s highest forum. “The Government should set up an enquiry and take necessary action against the administrators or bureaucrats who were responsible for letting this contentious issue be taken up in the Cabinet for discussion when there is no clearance,” the release added.

The WCCZLI further appealed the Committee set up by the State Cabinet to examine the matter in depth and submit its report without biasness so that justice can be delivered to the deserving. It also acknowledged all the Village Youth Organizations under Peren district for coming forward as volunteers to impose the bandh successfully.
