Dimapur, September 20 (MExN): The Western Chakhesang Hoho (WCH) while condemning the attempt on the life of L Doulo allegedly by NSCN (K) cadres has informed that few days before the incident, two information slips by Akaho Jimo, Brigadier Finance in-charge of Dimapur and Khumutsa Naga, Finance Secy. of NSCN (K) was given to Doulo, proprietor of Kuda Cold Storage for payment of tax to NSCN (K).
A statement from WCH president, Vekhosayi Nyekha and general secretary, Kiesalie Thopi alleged that on September 18, five persons claiming to be from NSCN (K) came to Kuda Cold Storage around 2:30 to 2:40 pm and attempted to assassinate the proprietor after affirming themselves they were the ones who demanded Rs. 50,000/-.
In the course of interaction, one of the cadres took out his pistol and fired from about 5 feet distance narrowly missing Doulo’s head, it claimed. Then the cadre took second shot but the gun jammed and failed to fire after which they escaped from the scene on their bikes, WCH added.
The Hoho questioned on what ground the attempt to take the life of a Naga septuagenarian businessman was made. It demanded that the Naga National Group “must deliver swift justice and take punitive measures against their criminal cadres and not protect them or manipulate the truth and justify the wrong or try to escape by telling lies so that good will of the public is earned.”
Meanwhile, WCH appealed to all the citizens and business communities to come together and condemn such act, taxing and assassination attempts in the name of freedom movement.
The Hoho stated that the community is not against the freedom movement of the Nagas, “but will not allow any rouge armed cadres to hijack the noble cause of the Naga's freedom movement to threaten or undermine the community, Naga entrepreneurs and Naga citizens under the barrel of the guns.”
WCH also asserted it will not back off when an insult of such degree is made upon its community by any faction, but will seek justice according to the law of the land.
The Hoho further appealed to the law enforcing agencies and the Administration to book the criminals so as to avoid public resorting to their own means in safeguarding citizens’ lives.
