Dimapur, June 20 (MExN): The Western Chakhesang Youth Organization (WCYO) has condemned the recent statements made by the president of the Dimapur District Auto Drivers Union (DDADU) during a press conference concerning the alleged sexual assault of a Chakhesang woman on June 15.
In a press release, WCYO said it was “deeply disturbed” by the DDADU president’s decision to share what it termed “one-sided knowledge from secondary sources” with the media while the case remains under active investigation and the accused is in judicial custody.
“The information shared by the DDADU president holds no truth and has put the already traumatized victim in a poor light in the mass media,” stated Wekupe Therie, president of WCYO. It expressed concern over the DDADU’s internal inquiry into the accused, saying such actions undermine the official investigation and risk prejudicing public opinion.
“The DDADU president’s irresponsible statements have compromised the integrity of the ongoing investigation and caused further harm to the victim,” the WCYO said.
It demanded an unconditional public apology from the DDADU president through the mass media, warning that failure to do so would compel it to take “necessary measures to safeguard the dignity of the victim and ensure that justice is served.”
