The Wokha District Football Association (WDFA) officially launched its new jersey ahead of the 24th edition of the Dr T Ao Inter-District Football Trophy on July 25, which is scheduled to be held in Kohima from August 1 to 12.
The launch event was graced by Renbomo Ezung, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Wokha, serving as the chief guest.
He lauded WDFA’s ongoing efforts in promoting football among the youth and emphasised the importance of discipline, mutual respect, and sportsmanship during the tournament. He also highlighted the players’ roles as ambassadors of the district, encouraging them to remain united and committed as they represent Wokha on a larger platform.
Ezung further underlined the significance of teamwork, noting that although the players come from various clubs and academies, they now stand together as one team under the banner of Wokha District. He expressed confidence in the squad’s abilities and was optimistic that their performance would bring pride to the district.
Edward Ngullie, former WDFA President and current Advisor, also addressed the gathering. He commended the players for their dedication and thanked all individuals, departments, and organisations who supported the association’s preparations.
The jersey dedication was led by Pastor Zuben Ngullie of Police Baptist Church, Wokha. The official kit sponsor for the tournament is Gracious Event Planning, Wokha. Wokha District will compete alongside other districts in Nagaland’s premier inter-district football championship, held annually in memory of Dr. Talimeren Ao, the first captain of independent India’s national football team.
