Wokha, June 13 (MExN): The Wokha District Legal Services Authority conducted quarterly Under Trial Review Committee Wokha meeting at District Jail Wokha on June 13.
The meeting was attended by Nino Iralu, District & Session Judge Wokha, Seyielenuo Mezhii, Judicial Magistrate First Class Wokha, Bharat Laxman Markad (IPS), SP Wokha, T Lanusenla Lkr, SDO(C) Wokha, Gracy Ezung, Retainer Lawyer WDLSA, Meribemo Lotha, Panel Lawyer-in-charge District Jail, Mhademo Kithan, Asst. Jailor District Jail and staff.
The meeting was chaired by Seyielenuo Mezhii, JMFC and gave a brief highlight on UTRC meeting with reference to W.P(C) No. 406 of 2013 Re-Inhuman Condition in 1382 prisons. A brief statistical report of nine convicts and 20 UTPs lodged at district jail was highlighted by Meribemo Lotha.
The committee deliberated the status of UTPs at district jail and recommended 3 UTPs to avail Legal Aid services through the Wokha District Legal Services Authority and also visited the jail premises to take stock of the conditions of jail facilities.
