Wokha, February 21 (MExN): Wokha District Legal Services Authority (WDLSA) has inaugurated Legal Literacy Club (LLC) in two more educational institutions of Wokha, namely Spring Dale School and Christian Model High School. It was inaugurated by Judicial Magistrate First Class and Secretary WDLSA on February 17.
A press release from WDLSA informed that secretary WDLSA, Seyielenuo Mezhü in her address stated “ignorance of law is not an excuse” and asked all the participants to be aware of the legal system placed in the society. She noted that proper training and knowledge on legal matters will be imparted to the LLC members by the Panel Lawyers and Para Legal Volunteers. Seyielenuo also encouraged all the LLC members to be sincere in carrying out the activities and be agent of peace and transformation.
Dwelling on the topic ‘Child Rights’, both the resource persons, Panel Lawyers Renponthung Tsanglao and David Ezung, explained the provisions and rights guaranteed to the children by the constitution of India with special reference to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and convention on the rights of child.
The release mentioned that the LLC room is furnished with computer set, furniture, tables and book shelves. Designated especially for the LLC members, it will be supervised by the Teacher in Charge.
Altogether, 159 students from both the schools participated in the programme.
