WOKHA, DECEMBER 29 (MExN): The Wokha District Rifle Association (WDRA) organised the 6th edition of the annual Air Rifle shooting competition on December 29 at Likya Community Hall, Wokha.
YM Humtsoe, NCS Secretary to the Government of Nagaland (Retd) & Vice President (CEB) NDPP graced the occasion as the special guest. While lauding the WDRA for organising such events to give platform to the young talents in the district, he encouraged them to take this event to a higher level in order to explore more young talents. He also appealed to the participants to take the game seriously as sports provide opportunity in terms of providing employment and self sustainability.
District Sports Officer, Wokha, Libemo Jami also delivered short speech during the programme. He also handed over the awards to the winners of the competition. Altogether 57 shooters took part in the shooting competition.
Ayamo Khuvung was adjudged as the winner of the 6th edition of Air Rifle shooting competition who walked away with a cash award of Rs 15,000 while Ashamo Ezung and M Rentsanthung took the second and third prizes respectively. Zachamo C Ngullie (15 years) was presented with the youngest shooter of the competition while Yanrenthung Tsanglao was presented with the oldest shooter award.
The function was chaired by General Secretary, WDRA, Oponthung Kinghen; while Vice President, WDRA, Yanrenthung Tsanglao delivered the welcome address. AGS, WDRA, Benthungo Kikon proposed the vote of thanks.
