We must learn to help bridge the gap: NSCN (IM)

Dimapur, January 16 (MExN): The NSCN (IM) has stated that the abandonment of their camp at Mukalimi village was to “avoid unnecessary confrontation and the loss of more sons of the soil.” This decision, they stated, was arrived at “knowing that the fight is not with the Sumi community.” This was stated in a press release from the MIP today.

Referring to the GPRN/NSCN statement, the NSCN (IM) noted, “Such devious posturing at the time when NSCN and Sumi community are trying to find ways and means to resolve differences amount to “fishing in the troubled water” with the motive to harvest “favour” from the Sumi people. It is clear that their objective is to bring enmity between NSCN and Sumi community thereby sowing seeds of hatred, revenge and rebellion against us.”

The NSCN (IM) said it was “interesting” that “the message sent to our Sumi community” by the Yaruiwo Isak Chishi Swu is “conveniently interpreted as a threat to Sumi leaders when it was meant to reconcile and understand one another. A mind being ruled by negative thought will never grasp the content of the message but interpret suitably in their liking which does not surprise us anymore.”

The NSCN (IM) termed it “strangely unfortunate” that “when the highest level leaders from the entire Naga nationalist are to meet soon for reconciliation, such propaganda devoid of truth and sincerity are being displayed without any compunction of sensitivity and sentiment to the Mukalimi incident.” “We must learn to help bridge the gap and not bomb the already shaky bridge if one is a genuine seeker of Naga unity and reconciliation,” stated the MIP note.
