International AIDS Candlelight Memorial 2025 observed in Mon.

Mon, May 18 (MExN): The District Integrated Strategy for HIV/AIDS (DISHA) Mon in collaboration with Tizit Town Baptist Church (TTBC), Youth Ministry and Turning Point Organization with support from NSACS observed the International AIDS Candlelight Memorial 2025 with the theme, “We Remember. We Rise. We Lead.”

A press release received here stated that Longyim Tzudir, DPO, DISHA Mon in briefing the gathering on the significance of the day mentioned that the International AIDS Candlelight Memorial is observed every third Sunday of May to honour those who lost their lives to AIDS-related illness and to show support for people living with HIV. He said that this year’s theme is not just about remembrance but also celebrating their contribution and to reaffirm the commitment to end AIDS.

The District HIV & AIDS scenario was highlighted by Longthrang, DIS, DISHA, while other items include presentation of choreography by Miss Sara & Co, special no. from St. Peter Hostellers, scripture reading by Nokhah and Nokman and followed by candlelight vigil led by  Wangnoun, Evangelist. KBBB, Assam Enajori Mission.

The programme was chaired by Tingzing, Youth President while Dr.Pange, Chaplain pronounced the invocation prayer.

Besides programme organisers, the members of Tizit Town Students’ Union (TTSU), youth members of Sister Churches under Tizit Town, TI Shansham Org, Mon and SSHAKTI and well wishers attended the International AIDS Candlelight Memorial to show their solidarity.

Free and voluntary counselling and testing for HIV and STI services was provided by Mobile ICTC during the event.
