Speech of Gen (Rtd) Khole Konyak, Chairman , GPRN/NSCN
Dear countrymen and comrades
On this auspicious day the 34th Republic Day Anniversary I wish to convey my greetings to every sons and daughters of Naga soil. I also thank god for sustaining us to this day despite every effort of our adversaries to sabotage and destroy our desire to live as free people.
Fellow Nagas, I candidly recall the days where educated Nagas were few, yet today we are fortunate to have enough educated and erudite Nagas who can compete with the rest of the world. The GPRN/NSCN has set objectives to every Naga and the outside world that we shall stand firm to our commitment of unity and reconciliation, for I believe that solution to the Naga political problem can never be achieved until we come together and contribute our share in the struggle, today’s political solution or any solution will depend on every individual’s commitment and determination. We should all realize that other people will not come to solve our problem.
Therefore I urge every Nagas to realize the futility of confining our self within the self erected penal complex and come out in the open and express your opinion without any reservation.
On this day I also salute all the brave comrades who have valiantly sacrificed their precious life defending our cause, their names shall be remembered and recorded in the pages of Naga history. I also urge all GPRN/NSCN workers to be vigilant against the adversaries both within and without who spend sleepless nights to destroy our unity and integrity, at this crucial moment of the Naga history where groups and gangs of mercenaries have mushroomed in the guise of Naga nationalism, we should not falter but remain upright and committed to the cause and the goal.
The collective leaders will not hesitate to initiate punitive action upon any rank and file found tarnishing the image of the GPRN/NSCN and defying the party discipline and the constitution.
At this stage of my life I am glad to be alive to see the Nagas moving forward in every field, yet it is also my desire to see all Nagas come together to decide our common future for the upcoming generation. As we celebrate this republic day let us remember the past unity and glory and look beyond the horizon.
