Weather based Integrated Agro Advisory for the month of November 2024

Plant Breeding & Genetics –Harendra Verma
1.    Farmers are advised to start field preparation of land for sowing. Apply well decomposed Farm Yard Manure 2-3 t/ha and lime @ 300kg/ha for good soil health management and soil fertility. 
2.    Treat the seeds of pea and potato with bavistin 2g/kg of seed or mix Pseudomonas fluorescens and Trichoderma viride @ 50g/kg of seeds to protect the crops from initial fungal infection.
3.    Purchase quality seed from authentic source having seal and details of quality seed with a tag.
4.    Use pheromone trap @5nos/ha in for management of insects.
5.    Prepare small watershed units for conservation of water to facilitate lifesaving irrigation during water security situation and management of irrigation for crops.
6.    Recommended varieties and seed rate of different crops. 


Spices, Plantation, Medicinal & Aromatic plants – Azeze Seyie
ARECANUT: 
Nursery: Weeding and supervision for any disease incidence. Watering depends on intensity of rain. 
-    Forking of interspaces to prevent hardening of soils may be done and application of manures and fertilizers may be done (if not applied during September) in new or old gardens.
-    Soil bunding and anchoring of young seedlings in new garden.
-    Incorporate green manures grown as cover crops. 
-    In low lying areas to cover the roots, fresh earth may be applied on exposed portions. 
-    Weeding in the plantation area and irrigation of the plants may be started on receding of monsoon showers.
-    Palms exposed to South-Western Sun may require protection against sun scorch and consequent stem breaking. In such cases, green portions of the stem may be covered with areca leaf sheaths or opaque polythene film.
-    Mulching may be done in young areca plantations with dried leaves or areca leaves.   
Entomology – Moanaro
1.    Install yellow and blue sticky traps in the vegetable nursery and in field to monitor the pest population.
2.    If aphids, whiteflies or crinkling of leaves are observed in chilli, tomato, Bok choy, Lettuce, mustard leaf and cole crops in the nursery or field, spray neem oil @ 2ml/L or Imidacloprid17.8 SL @ 0.3ml/L of water.
3.    If webbing, scrapping or small caterpillars are observed in vegetable crops, hand pick and destroy the caterpillars then spray neem oil @ 2ml/L or Spinosad 45 SC @ 0.5 ml/L of water.
4.    In mango orchard where mealy bug problem occurred, flood the orchard with water to kill the eggs and plough the field for exposing the pupae.
5.    Spray Imidacloprid 17.8 SL or Thiomethoxam 25 WG @ 0.5ml/L of water on the stem and branches of mango plants prior to flowering and fallen leaves to kill the hibernating adult stone weevils hiding on the bark where ever problem existed.
Poultry –Celina and Mahak Singh 
1.    In winter season, it is necessary to give extra feed for maintaining body temperature. Also lukewarm water must be made available at all times. A good quality litter which serve as an insulator must be placed on the floor.  
Piggery – Atokali and Mahak Singh
1.    As winter sets in, the pigs must be kept warm particularly the piglets by providing bedding and artificial light. Due to change in weather, there is increased risk of disease so prompt action should be taken to avoid spread of diseases.
