
Dimapur, November 25 (MExN): Peace Channel, an initiative of Kohima Diocese in collaboration with North East Institute of Social Sciences and Research (NEISSR) successfully launched a series of webinar on the theme, ‘Peace Training and Skill Development’ on November 25.
It was launched with the aim to train individuals who envision in promoting peace through different levels of training. The main intent of the webinar is to introduce peace clubs in the educational institutions and communities, train the participants on peer mediation, peace forum and capacitating individuals on the role of educators as a peace builder.
The webinar was flagged off with a brief introduction about the organization and the structure of the programme by Vitono Haralu, facilitator for the session which was later followed by a welcome note by Dr Fr CP Anto, Director, Peace Channel.
In the opening remark, Dr Anto also stressed on the sole concept and objective of the webinar and how this series of webinar can web individual with the organization by collaboratively working together in making Peace Channel Vision 2030 (to make Nagaland a peaceful state) a reality.
The session was exclusively focused on the topic, ‘Peace Club’ which was evenly taken up by Garrol Lotha, Project Coordinator, Peace Channel and Alino Chishi, Kohima District Coordinator cum Project Facilitator, Peace Channel, Dimapur.
During the first session, Garrol Lotha stressed on the concept of Peace Club where she shared on the objective of Peace Channel, the objective of forming Peace Club in the educational Institutions and communities, strategic approaches and categories of peace club, expected outcome of peace club and the impact of Peace Club formation in the educational institution with leading examples from the field.
Alino Chishi, begin the second session with her personal experience which added more value to disseminate peace education in our region and how formation of peace club can pave a way to peaceful living by following certain values and principles of peace.
Chishi stressed on the steps of Peace Club Formation, activities of Peace Club, Peace Celebration - Hallmark of Peace Channel, steps of peace celebration and capacity building programmes which are initiated for the peace club members in the institutions.
The programme was attended by 74 participants.
The following are the highlight of the upcoming webinar- November 26 on ‘Peer Mediation’, November 27 on ‘Peace Forum’ and November 28 on ‘Training on the role of educators as peace builders respectively.’
