A book titled ‘Destined Apart’ authored by Wedekhro Naro was launched today in Kohima.

Assistant Professor and Controller of Examination, Kohima Science College, Jotsoma, Teisovi Gerard Meyase after launching the book said, “book of poetries are like boarding a bus, boarders unknown to each other, going to different journeys, sharing the journey together during the brief moment in the small confinement.”

Meyase praised the author for being fearless and straight forward in his approach at the same time adding wit and humour to his work.

Meyase said although he have heard about the author, they have not encountered yet until this time and added that it was inspiring to learn about the author’s enthusiasm and approach to life.

Wedekhro Naro, sharing a brief journey about becoming a writer, acknowledged the support and recognition that the publisher, Krocha has given the author in letting his manuscripts becomes a book.

Publishing his 4th book which is a collection of poems, Naro says his books are about candid moments, very simply written for any literate or layman can understand and read. He describes that his book gives opportunity for the readers to have a connection with, with things, places and people.

The book, Destined Apart, he said is a personal and very close to the author where he got the inspiration from a woman he befriended during his stay in Kuwait. He writes the books as he leaves Kuwait with a memory and friendship behind his departure.

His three other books include- The Stubborn heart, The Unfinished Story, True Love Keeps Moving, published by PenThrill publication from 2018 onwards.

‘Writing and publishing in Nagaland dominated by women’
Vishü Rita Krocha, PenThrill Publication House, delivering the publisher’s note observed that writing and publishing in Nagaland is clearly dominated by women and ‘while we have also had and still have male writers who wrote extensively and tremendously well, the subject matter that they deal with are seemingly rather more serious.’

‘And very few male writers deal with the kind of subjects that Wedekhro writes about especially in the context of our state,’ she maintained. She said, “in general, very rarely do writers continue in their endeavour of storytelling by writing books.”

Krocha lauded the author as a very hard working person who has been consistent even in his pursuit for writing, which is why he continues to bring out books, one after another.

“And over the years, I have also seen him grow and evolve as a writer. This book, I think is his best yet,” she added.

The publisher said that beginning with his very first book, Wedekhro talked about relationships, exploring topics that are not openly discussed in our society.

His second book, “The unfinished story” goes on to address issues of addiction and alcohol, while his third book, “The Stubborn Heart”, continues to address relevant issues that young people of today are confronted with especially in the context of Nagaland.

The publisher hoped and appealed everyone continue to support writers and storytellers, and also be book ambassadors from our land, that is only beginning to see the growth of literature.

Earlier, the programme was chaired by Awi Tsuhah and Athe Rhi presented a song. Khosazo Nyekha prayed for the programme.
