Welfare society rues decline of SBI Tening

Peren, January 21 (MExN): The State Bank of India (SBI) in Tening, Peren is gradually declining to the point of becoming defunct, the Ntumai Welfare Society (NWS) has claimed.

While extending appreciation to the SBI for opening its branch at Tening which has been a long felt need of the area, the welfare society expressed disappointment stating that it had observed the bank gradually declining to the point of becoming defunct despite people’s high expectations.

It stated that the lack of staff at the bank compounded by the malfunctioning computers was adding to people’s desperateness.

It called for appointing two cashiers at the branch as the one existing cashier was not proportionate to handle the growing customer base of the bank.

“The problem of a single cashier in the bank has been the long-drawn-out plight of the people,” the NWS stated and urgently appealed the concern SBI authority to fix the problem without delay.

Also viewing that the SBI Tening was “rightly situated” as people from the three states of Nagaland, Manipur and Assam can carry out transactions, the welfare society expressed regret that the bank was unable to keep up with its customers.

“Therefore, we fervently appeal the concern SBI authority to take stock of the prevailing situation… and refurbish it to the norm and need of the people of Tening Area without further delay,” the NWS appealed.
