West PS raid against counterfeit spare parts

Dimapur, April 26 (MExN): A number of shops in Dimapur selling imitated company products were raided by the police on April 25. According to a press release from the Superintendent of Police, the raid was made following a complaint from the Kolkata branch of the automobile components giant – Bosch.  A complaint was made by “M/S Bosch Limited, the authorized dealers of the Bosch products regarding Copy Right violations and cheating of innocent consumers by selling counterfeit products as genuine spare parts…” The raid was conducted by personnel from the West Police Station. Ten shops from in and around the city, selling imitated products from the company were found defaulting and the counterfeit products seized, the release stated.
“A total of about 550 Bosch Diesel Filter and Bosch spark plugs were seized from the shops and the shop owners of the offending arrested.” Criminal cases under the Copy Right Act, 1975 and other relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code have been registered against the defaulting shop owners.

Extortionist Held
Three extortionists were arrested on the evening of April 25 from Burma Camp, Niu Colony by the police while they were extorting money. According to the press release from the Additional SP the threesome identified as one - David Zhimomi, Ikato Achumi, Aboka Yepthomi were extorting money from “a certain Bodra Company located in the area dealing in supply of pine tree products.” The three were demanding money in the name of the Naga National Council while a receipt bearing the name of the organization was seized from their possession, the release added. A case of extortion has been registered against the accused.
