Minister for Women Resource Development & Horticulture, Salhoutuonuo Kruse said, ‘as educated and learned individuals of the society, gazetted officers can immensely contribute to the society and community.’

Gracing the Western Angami Gazetted Officers Krotho (WAGOK) 3rd biennial conference at Shalom Bible Seminary, Sechü Zubza as the special guest, she said ‘all hopes are pinned on the officers as an intellectual group of people in bringing positive change, fostering development, and ensuring betterment of the communities.’

Holding important post within the government apparatus, Kruse urged the officers to be sincere, dedicated and committed in the service of the people particularly in policy formulation and implementation in response to citizen needs.

“When considering your actions today, always keep in mind the future of your children,” the Minister advised and urged them to continue to give their best for the people.

In his short speech, Western Angami Public Organisation (WAPO) President, Kepelhoutuo Chüsi stated that as an intellectual group of people belonging to a refined society, the gazetted officers should not become a liability to the society in the chair/post that one holds.

The officers were also advised to be cautious and emulate the Christian values in dispensing their services. Observing the corrupt system, Chüsi maintained that though people always blame the system, nobody dares to stand up. To this, he asserted “unless you decide/determine to defeat the system, this cycle will continue. And so, even if it means standing alone to defeat the system, then only we can bring change.”

Rovilatuo Mor, IAS (Retd) stressed on the need to change people's outlook towards government service as only a secure means of livelihood. As government employee, he explained ‘basically, we are in for public services. We are serving the public through the government,’ said Mor.

With decades of experience, he also advised the officers to build a robust system, public relation and confidence wherever they are posted adding 'let your conscience be your guide especially in decision making, critical and conflicting issue etc.'

Others who spoke include Nibu Nagi, businessman and Dr Zasekuolie Chüsi, IAS.

A new team of office bearers for the tenure 2024-26 was elected led by as Rokovisa Chase as the President and Dr Vilie Medoze as the General Secretary.
