Western Angami Public Organisation elects new team

KOHIMA, MAY 17 (MExN): The Western Angami Public Organisation (WAPO) has elected a new team of office bearers for the tenure 2016-19 led by Lhouphrevilie Rino as President and Neikuo Sechü as Vice President.   The other team members include: Keviphotsü Khwükha - General Secretary, Mhieneikecha Chüsi - Treasurer, Vilesanuo Zenyü-u - Literary Secretary, Kezhalezo Khawakhrie - Cultural Secretary, Khrietuo Mor - Environment Secretary, Medozhatuo Nakhro - Human Development Secretary, and Vitsalhou Kesiezie - Property Secretary.   The new team was formally inducted on May 14 during the WAPO general meeting held at WAPO Hall, Sechü Zubza. The new team was selected by a nomination committee comprising Satuo Sechü (Convenor), Kuosevo Casavi, Petuo Punyü and Sakho-u Nisa.   Taking over as President, Lhouphrevilie sought continued cooperation from all the respective units and individuals. On behalf of the new team, he assured to work whole heartedly for the welfare of the Western Angami people and the Naga society in general. He also lauded the efforts of the pioneers, former leaders as well as the outgoing team for rendering their best service for the uplift of the society and bringing WAPO to where it is today.   Former president of Angami Public Organisation and WAPO, Mhiesizokho Zinyü, who exhorted the gathering on the day, called upon the need for a renewed effort and vision from every individual concerned.   While congratulating the new team, he also advised them to take the lead in bringing change in the society. To this, he also urged upon the gathering to give their cooperation to the new WAPO team, while urging everyone concerned to contribute and own a share in nation building.

  On the challenges that lay ahead, Zinyü advised the gathering to take decisions wisely so as to make the best use of the opportunity that comes their way.   Outgoing WAPO General Secretary Neivikuolie Khatsü, WAPO Treasurer Pfüsozielhou Nagi and Kenneth Punyü, Member, Finance Committee, also presented their reports.
