He made a special mention of the first Naga graduate A Kevichiisa (1924), former chief minister JB Jasokie, first Nagaland Legislative Assembly speaker TN Angami (also former chief minister), noted social activist Niketu Iralu, Naga legendary leader AZ Phizo, Naga Students Federation (NSF) first president Zasinihu Zinyii etc.

“You are torch bearers among the Nagas in all aspects, be it Nags political issue, education and state politics. How blessed you are,” he said. Nagas are proud of you, he said adding that they (Western Angamis) have achieved the highest level among the Nagas.

Basing on 75 years celebration theme of WASU, Azo urged upon WASU to work on strengthening the education system, Naga political issue as well as strengthening the oldest regional political party called “Democratic Party of Nagaland,” formed in 1963.
Stating the attaining 75 years is worth celebrating, he said “We must celebrate, putting God first, because it is God alone who has brought all thus far.”

“Without God, nothing is possible, with God everything is possible,” he said. In this, he called upon the people to put God first in everything to achieve greater heights and lead the Nagas.

Be asset, not liability to society

He also told the students to study hard for around 15 to 16 years and enjoy for the rest of their life.

If you take things easy and casually, you will suffer and going to become somebody servant for the rest of your life, he said.
Maintaining that the bright future of Nagaland lies on bright students, he was of the apprehension that the state will face bleak situation in the absence of bright students.

Stressing on the need to have a positive mindset, he said “If we take things positively, everything will go positive but if we take things negatively, everything will go negative.” Azo also stated that the need of the hour for Nagas today is God fearing leaders, leaders with principle and leaders with integrity.
