Dimapur, December 16 (MExN): The Western Sümi Hoho (WSH) has expressed “solemn grief and collective mourning” at the passing of its President, Shikaho Zhimomi.
Zhimomi breathed his last on December 16 in Delhi while undergoing medical treatment, WSH stated.
In a condolence message, the WSH described his death as “a devastating blow and an irreplaceable loss not only to the Sümi community but to the entire Naga people.”
“It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of our esteemed and beloved President, Shikaho Zhimomi. With his departure, we have lost a towering statesman, a principled leader, and a devoted servant whose life was anchored in integrity, humility, and an unyielding commitment to the welfare of the people,” the statement read.
The Hoho highlighted that Zhimomi led with “rare moral authority and quiet strength,” and that his presidency was “defined by wisdom, clarity of purpose, and an unrelenting pursuit of unity and harmony.”
“His leadership was not merely administrative; it was exemplary, grounded in character and conviction. The legacy he leaves behind is indelible and will continue to guide and inspire generations,” it added.
The WSH extended its “deepest and most heartfelt condolences” to the bereaved family, relatives, and loved ones.
Sümi Hoho: Sümi Hoho, the apex tribal body of the Sümi community, expressed profound sorrow over the untimely demise of Shikaho Zhimomi.
Describing Zhimomi as a “genuine and devoted leader,” Sümi Hoho in a press note stated he worked tirelessly for the welfare of his people and for unity within the broader Naga community. It highlighted his dedication persevered even through personal health challenges.
“The Sümi people have lost an irreplaceable leader whose absence will be keenly felt,” the message read, adding that his spirit of service and vision for unity would continue to inspire.
The Sümi Hoho extended condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for strength and eternal peace for the departed soul.
Dimapur Sümi Council: Dimapur Sümi Council (DSC) in its message said Shikaho Zhimomi’s unwavering humility simplicity, compassion, and dedication to public service will be always cherished and deeply missed.
He made remarkable efforts to break barriers and foster peace and unity among the Naga tribes as well as all others too. He was truly a gentleman and a humble leader and got along with all whom he came across. He led not by command but by example, and his legacy of humbleness and kindness will continue to inspire us always, the council stated.
The DSC expressed its deepest sympathy to the family and relatives.
