Calls for revocation within seven days
Dimapur, June 8 (MExN): The Western Sumi Hoho (WSH) has expressed dismay over the June 3 Government of Nagaland’s notification on the Inter-District Boundary between Peren and Chümoukedima (erstwhile Dimapur) district, and called for its revocation within 7 days.
The WSH will not accept the same and the notification is a “sinister design to divide the Western Sumi villages that have a boundary problem created by some intruders from Manipur and Assam state who are hell bent to create a new village under the guise of their so-called ancestral land,” the WSH added in a memorandum to Nagaland Chief Secretary on June 7.
Instead, it demanded that Nagaland State Government immediately “flush out all these illegal encroacher from other states” and also called upon all other indigenous tribes of Nagaland state “to be wise and judge accordingly.”
“The WSH demands that all Sumi villages in the boundaries of Peren-Chümoukedima (erstwhile Dimapur) district be amalgamated into the newly created Chümoukedima district en bloc or if not, we shall remain under Dimapur district as before,” it added.
If the notification is not revoked within seven days from the date of submission, the WSH along with all its frontal organisations will impose a total bandh of Dimapur district and the state government will be totally responsible for any untoward incidents that may arise, stated the memorandum,
The WSH is the apex body of all the Sumis inhabiting in Dimapur, Niuland and Chümoukedima districts, comprising of more than 170 villages and a having a total population of around 2 lakh, it added.
The memo was appended by Shikaho Zhimomi, President WSH; Phushito Aye President WSKH; Mughavi Awomi , President WSYF; Visheli S Yepto, President WSTH; Vikuto Zhimo, President WSSA; and Kughato Achumi, President WSSU.
