Vikheho Swu meanwhile termed the recent turmoil as the “crucifixion of Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu.” “What wrong did Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu do? We literally went to request him to take over as CM to save the party,” stated Swu.

Swu claimed that the main priority and agenda of Dr. Shürhozelie as Nagaland CM had been focused towards efficient administration, preventing corruption, and for peace and development. Some of the achievements of Dr Liezietsu in his brief role as CM, according to Swu were: Clearance of 80 pending cabinet files; initiation of the first goodwill mission to Manipur; clearance for construction of Nagaland Medical College, Phriebagei especially land issues; issuing the termination of MKR Pillai’s service as Consultant to DGP and detailed prob into his activities; order towards speedy probe of irregularities and anomalies in PDS, Food and Civil Supplies Department, and fuel adulteration scam; and implementation of the 7th ROP in Nagaland.

Opposing the motion of confidence moved by the CM, Kuzholuzo Nienu meanwhile demanded the House present the legal sanction of TR Zeliang as the Chief Whip, asserting that the members have every right to know under which constitutional provisions, article, section and clause has the appointment been approved and to further indicate the withdrawal letter of the appointment of Kiyaneilie Peseyie. Nienu reminded of a similar political drama that took place in 2015 where he was appointed as the Chief Whip by the majority of NPF legislators. Then, Nienu had written an application ‘for accepting my appointment’ to the Speaker which was rejected with the explanation that it had no ‘legal sanction.’

“My question here is why the Speaker’s office has to maintain two yard sticks for the same issue? So, our contention here is, please don’t force us or push us into voting for TR but to first convince us as to why we should accept his appointment order and allow us to vote with our free conscience,” he said.

CL John meanwhile said: “We all took oath to abide by the rules of the party when we were elected and also when we received the party ticket. Whoever has instigated the conflict must also initiate the reconciliation.”
