Chümoukedima, February 25 (MExN): The primary goal of Lean Six Sigma is to eliminate waste and reduce variation, leading to significant improvements in organisational processes, maintained Pelezoto Kikhi, a Quality Manager at the Christian Institute of Health Sciences and Research (CHISR). 

The tangible benefits of Lean Six Sigma, including career advancement, higher salaries, enhanced problem-solving skills, and a versatile skill set applicable across various industries, he said, while providing an overview and its historical significance during a visit to the North East Institute of Social Sciences and Research (NEISSR) on February 21. 

A press release from the institute informed that Kikhi holds the title of a certified Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt and serves as the State Chairman of Nagaland, a member of the governing committee of Accredited Healthcare Organisation (CAHO). 

Delving into history, he highlighted that Lean principles were first implemented at Toyota by Taichi Ohno, while Six Sigma methodologies were pioneered at Motorola by Bob Galvin, Bill Smith, and Mikel Harry. 

According to Kikhi, the approach is crucial in reducing organisational process defects and increasing value across industries.
He illustrated the versatility of Lean Six Sigma by showcasing its applications in healthcare, IT, banking and finance, HR, civil engineering, and many other sectors.

Furtehr, Kikhi highlighted the potential of approach in aiding students and briefed them on its importance and the employment opportunities it presents. 

The session concluded with a Q&A session, allowing attendees to engage with the resource person and gain further insights, the release added.
