When long cherished dream become reality it satiates the heart and fulfills the imagination of the mind. Every human dream. We dream away for popularity and prosperity. We dream of building castle, flying in a plane, riding in the horse, seeing the beautiful landscape et al. As a child we dream for simpler thing, which brings amusement and wonder. As we grow older we dream of some more complex and mysterious thing that gives not only wonder to our heart but also satisfies our perceptive mind.
Dare to dream big. Dream a big picture. The great achievers of the past and of our time frequently say such words. Dream can be productive and destructive. Excessive daydreaming can take away from us the reality of life. Searching only for reality without dream/imagination can also robe away from life the beauty of enchantment. A writer, Rudyard Kipling puts it so well in his poem, ‘If’, “If you can dream and no make dream your master; If you can think-and not make thoughts your aim.” Between enchantment and reality a thin red line must be drawn in order to enjoy a life of fascination of simple thing and also to understand and appreciate the complexes and mysteries of life.
Pardon me to say that each soul dream not necessarily in sleep but also while wide-awake too. Mother not only nurtures and nourishes the physical well being of a child but also frames a dream for her baby to become a man and woman someday. A rich or poor, each mother I think does have a dream of hope in each child of hers.
Many undoubtedly have proven that impossible means I’m possible by the sheer power of determination and dreaming big dreams. Crossing the tough gates, overcoming the harsh realities of life’s obstacle many have succeeded not only proving “Can Do” ability but also flaunt the magic of big dream. From rags to riches many have not only built mansions but also earn fame and admiration. From being a newspaper boy to a post Country President People have succeeded doing it. From being a waiter to a Chancellor people have climbed triumphantly. “Where there is a will, there is always a way”, this has inspired many achievers.
However, there were and are stories where people dream of becoming an Army, IAS Officer(s) etc. but landed up somewhere lesser then that. The lists of such stories go on and on. Talk to each one near you, you will be so surprising to here this, ‘I wish to become that but I am here today doing this.’ ‘Life is not just a red of roses.” The thorns prick while attempting to pick and pluck the rose. Failures are there. Successes are also not absent. People judiciously flounder to make dream come true. But it doesn’t come true sometimes. From failures many have learnt to be success.
Dreams do come true. Dreams also do not come true. Unfulfilled shattered dreams put one’s world in doom and gloom. The fulfilled dream brightens and gladdens the world. Between these two people rise and fall. Rise up. Fall down. Triumph. Disaster. Smile. Frown. Joy and Sorrow. Life is a coin of antonyms and synonyms. You toss it then a head of joy; toss again a tail of sorrow. Again it is worth listening to Rudyard Kipling, ‘If you can meet Triumph and Disaster, and treat those two imposters just the same……….” Then the writer concludes having saying this, “And-which is more- You’ll be a Man, my son!” True to the saying, ‘When one door is closed, a door in the other side is always opened,’ when one dream dies down another one is sprouting to flourish again. I think what one of my friend, here it goes, “when you are down you are most stable, when you are up you are liable to fall.” He continues to comment that it is darkest when the light is going to come in your life. When dream of hopes whither because of disasters, loss and sorrows et al are we reminded of the words, ‘HOLD ON’?
