
Demands befitting penalty for those involved in fuel racket
Dimapur, July 7 (MExN): The Ao Senso Telongjem Dimapur (ASTD) today appealed the State Government to “immediately and seriously” look into "fuel racket" unearthed recently by ACAUT in conjunction with Dimapur district administration.
Award befitting penalty to those responsible irrespective of status and position by with application of judicious mind, ASTD President Supu Jamir and General Secretary Onen Walling stated in a press note.
ASTD fully acknowledge and supports the ACAUT Nagaland in shouldering such mammoth task, it added.
Decrying and expressing surprise over the ‘deadwood’ maintained by concerned department as well as the State government over the issue, the ASAD asked, “Where is the Rule of Law? Where is the justice? Who will safeguard our people from the hands of unscrupulous people?”
In a democracy, the "voice of the people is paramount" and the Government should hear the voice of the people and act upon consciously for the welfare and safety of its citizens, the Apex Ao Organisation of Dimapur said adding that it was is very painful see Government’s inaction despite the revelation.
Where is the voice from the heads of the State? Why are those responsible not interested in mitigating the suffering of the citizens? Is it not the bounden duty on the part of the popular Government to safeguard its citizens? ASTD further posed.
Considering the “unimaginable” road condition in the state, if we pour kerosene oil instead of Petrol and diesel, imagine the fate of our vehicles, ASTD maintained.
“If the same remained uncontrolled the entire state economy will be siphoned by those fuel mafias in no time.”
In this regard, ASTD appealed for “immediate and serious” action from the state government saying, “Inaction will invite total catastrophe in our state economy and for which the responsible Govt. will be held accountable and answerable to the people of the state.”
