Who is accountable for corruption in Nagaland?

It is observed with great did-satisfaction, the attitude of the Government towards corruption/scandal that has rocked the state recently. The attitude of the government of “wait and wait” until things goes out of control is highly deplorable. It has been the traditional practice of the state government, be it any party to intervene in crisis only after they an ‘ugly turn’, which is a dangerous trend for a civilized society in a democratic nation.

Dr. Surhozelie claim that ‘the withdrawal of MBBS seat for Imkong’s son is punishment (refer to Nagaland Post August 9th 2006) has added salt to the already corrupted and ailing Naga society.

In applying the same yardstick to Richard Humtsoe, he deserves no punishment as he hasn’t enjoyed even a rupee from the money that he attempted to loot.

The law is blind and should not distinguish a minister and an ordinary citizen. If no penal action is imposed on Imkong Imchen, what punishment does Richard deserve when he hasn’t enjoyed even a rupee?

I as a concerned citizen of the state appeal to the Chief Minister to set a good precedent by punishing the guilty so that his successors emulate him in future, thus making Nagaland a better state, where corruption has no place to breed.
