(An Outcry against the use of Bombs and Land Mines)
Henry Konyak
02 October 2004, is witness to the most ghastly incident which shattered the human faith which one human being had for another. You have guessed it right, it is the ‘Twin bomb Blasts’ at Dimapur which left 25 killed and 87 innocent people injured, which was condemned by one and all 1ncluding the National workers.
However it is shocking to find that people seemed to have forgotten the nightmare so soon and are indulging in such heinous activity as of using bombs or landmines for their selfish interests whether be it Tobu, or the Chang-Konyak issue. It makes one ponder as to from where do they get such “Toys of Death”, which they scatter to kill their rivals.
Is it true that they make it themselves or get them from the National workers? Or is it a farce that they oppose the use of Bombs and Land Mines but on the quiet use the same to kill their rival Faction/group? They don’t realise, that it is a crime against humanity and the will of God. When talking of peace, we are violating the process ourselves. Inspite of areas where mines are laid, being marked in the Western borders of our country for defence against external aggressions, yet many lives are lost as innocent people and animal stray into these areas.
Do not forget that your own family members especially your innocent children or village brethren may step on them. The incidents in and around Tobu are hard evidences of the fact. People cannot walk or work in peace due to the fear of being killed or maimed for life.
Is this what we are looking forward to in Nagaland? I just pray to the lord that such a thing should not happen, but the way things are at present, the only way probably the supporters of Bomb and land mines will understand is only when an untoward incident will occur to their own near and dear ones. Frankly speaking one really cannot sleep in peace thinking as to who is Next to Step on Death?
