Dimapur, April 25 (MExN): The Whole Jalukie Council has cautioned against not obtaining a No Objection Certificate for any new establishing village within the council’s jurisdiction. The council asked any concern establishing village to obtain the said certificate from the Old Jalukie Village council and in the event of failure to adhere to the directive, cancellation order against the defaulting village would be issued.
In a circular issued by Chairman Heizing Mpom and Secretary Aluibe Iheilung the Whole Jalukie Council while expressing deference to the age-old traditional heritage of the Naga society and Naga community, expressed strong opposition to any “expansionist policy”.
“Recognizing the ownership and occupation on territorial jurisdiction for which the Nagas remain in distinction, the Council retaliates (against) any territorial expansionist policy which is (opposed) to the civilized society. The mutual respect and peaceful co-existence is the wealth of the Naga society, disrespecting the rich tradition may be very unfortunate and to adopt the ideology of the ‘might is right’ on territorial occupation is dangerous. Further the council caution any (unauthorized) act being done by any must stop” the council made clear.
It stated that ever since before the British occupation of Nagaland and ever after, the land boundary of the Old Jalukie village had remained unchanged. In this regard the Whole Jalukie Council drew the attention of the Government and all right-thinking citizens to be more cautious and see that every new establishing village obtain a No Objection Certificate from the Old Jalukie village Council. Any village not obtaining the said certificate and recognition by the Government may be issued a cancellation order.
The council apprised of the respective boundary of the Old Jalukie mentioned as follows:
1. North: Temaki (Dhansiri) river
2. South: Peletkie-Peren ranges
3. East: Peletkie ranges-Beireu to Nkwareu River
4. West: Bara Mungleu River
